Open Borders Productions is a film production company based in Athens, founded in 2020 by Alexandros Tiliopoulos.
Focused on independent cinema, the company develops and produces short and feature-length films that champion bold artistic voices and original storytelling.
Its productions have been presented at major international festivals, including the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF), Cannes, and SXSW London, with films such as MAMMALIA, which received the Short Cuts Award for Best International Short Film at TIFF and was included on the 99th Academy Awards Longlist, and GEKAS, which was included on the 97th Academy Awards Longlist.
Alexandros Tiliopoulos - CEO & FOUNDER
Alexandros Tiliopoulos (b. 1991) is a Greek film producer, director, and founder of Open Borders Productions and opbo studio. He develops and produces independent films with an international outlook, working across cinema, television, and contemporary art.
His latest production, MAMMALIA, had its World Premiere in the Short Cuts programme of the 51st Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF), where it received the Short Cuts Award for Best International Short Film (99th Academy Awards Longlist). He co-produced GEKAS (97th Academy Awards Longlist), GORGONES (SXSW London), and The Weight of Air, the first Peruvian–Greek co-production.
He is currently developing the feature films TETTIX, The Scent of Walls and Bitter Sugar, projects selected for international programmes including Locarno Open Doors, La Fabrique Cinéma 2025 (Cannes), EuroDoc, and IDFA Producers' Connection, among others.
Alexandros is an alumnus of EAVE On Demand, the professional training programme of European Audiovisual Entrepreneurs, and has collaborated with leading cultural institutions and museums while supporting emerging filmmakers and visual artists through opbo studio.

His self-written and directed
short film “Log Out” was globally presented and received many accolades.
Alexandros has served as a venue coordinator at AFI Fest in Los Angeles (2019) and
held the position of general coordinator of productions and operations at the Drama
International Short Film Festival (2021-2023).
He is currently producing numerous
short films in Greece and abroad while he is actively involved in television and the
advertising industry.
